This panel focuses on the relationship between tabletop gaming, such as Dungeons & Dragons, and fantasy fiction. Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of D&D, also wrote fantasy fiction. Gaming environments, such as Forgotten Realms, Darksun, and Dragonlance, have been the focus of numerous works of fiction. Many writers, Raymond E. Feist is an example, cite gaming as a huge influence on their writing. Fantasy fiction broke many barriers over recent years with the popularity of franchises such as Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Tabletop gaming has also risen in popularity recently. How much are the two related? What does the future hold for this connection?
